Notary Services
The library
does employ a notary. Notarization services
are available only when a notary is here. There is no charge for
this service. Call or stop by the main desk to check the notary's
schedule and availability. Staff members who can provide notary
services are so marked on our
About the Staff page.
By state law, all documents to be notarized must be presented
filled out but unsigned, and the document will then be signed in the presence
of the notary. The person signing the document must have valid ID and be
capable of communicating directly with the notary. Minors must have a parent
or legal guardian present.
The library only provides the notary. If witnesses are required,
you must bring them with you. You cannot recruit witnesses at the library.
Library employees will
NOT notarize the following
types of documents:
- Mortgage or real-estate documents, including housing refinance and Quit Claim Deeds
- Employment eligibility verification I-9 forms
- Vital records (birth, marriage, or death certificates)
- Auto titles without the buyer's address and name
- Documents requiring financial certification / authentication
- Documents that require an electronic signature
- Corporate or business documents
- Depositions
